Copyright – Intellectual Property Protection: The United States Copyright (Title 17, U. S. Code102(a)) protects the form of expression, pictorial, graphic, sculptural works, design works, original authorship fixed in tangible form, works transmitted online, the copyrightable authorship may consist, of text, artwork, music, audiovisual material (including any sounds), sound recordings, etc.
Copyright – Website & Blogs: The original authorship appearing on a website or blog are protected by copyright. This includes writings, artwork, photographs, and other forms of authorship protected by copyright.
Copyright Infringement: Section 501 of the copyright law states that “anyone who violates any of the exclusive rights of the copyright owner ...is an infringer of the copyright or right of the author.” Generally, under the law, one who engages in any of these activities without obtaining the copyright owner's permission may be liable for infringement.
Violation Enforcement: Copyright infringement is a civil matter, which the copyright owner shall pursue in federal court, and may also constitute a criminal misdemeanor or felony, which would be prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice. Violations will be reported by contacting the Intellectual Property (IP) Program of the Financial Institution Fraud Unit of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Cyber Division.
